Spending the night and waking up next to Alaric felt so right—of course, I couldn’t complain about how we spent most of the night. I smirked reminiscing the passionate night Alaric and I had. Having sex in the shower this morning was just the icing on the cake to start our day out perfectly until we would see each other again this evening. Nothing could wreck this perfect day.

Opening the door to my office, I displayed a wide grin on my face that hadn’t gone away since I left our love nest, but the ambience dampened my mood. I had a feeling that something had gone horribly wrong.

“Good morning, Bethany—” I stopped mid-sentence as my assistant tilted her head up at me with a worried expression. Her hands were trembling nervously.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen to you?” I asked, approaching her desk.

“Umm…the owner wants to see you in his office at ten o’clock.” Bethany took a deep breath of air and sighed. “He sounded really upset, Celine. I don’t know what’s going on.” Beth’s eyes were filled with concern.

“I don’t know either, but I guess I’ll find out in a bit.” I shrugged and walked into my office to prepare myself for this impromptu meeting.

CELINE: Hi Ace, I have a meeting with Mr. Mills this morning. I hope it’s not about us. I’m nervous.
